The Cincinnati Reds (15-8) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (12-10) 6-1 on Monday night at Tropicana Field to win the first game of the three-game series.
Sal Stewart hit a two-run homer in the first to get the game started well for the Reds. The Rays only run of the game came in the bottom of the first inning, when Yandy Diaz accepted a bases loaded walk to pull Tampa Bay within 2-1. The Reds added one run in the third, two in the sixth and one in the seventh to pull away with the win.
The Rays will look to bounce back in the middle game of the three-game series on Tuesday night. First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 6:40 PM - pregame coverage begins with Inside Pitch at 5:30 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
