The Tampa Bay Rays (67-46) defeated the Colorado Rockies (45-69) 9-7 in eleven innings on Tuesday night. With the win, the Rays are 21 games above .500 for the first time this eason.
The Rays had two players making their debuts since being acquired before the trade deadline on Monday. Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta allowed seven runs - all earned - on nine hits in three-and two thirds innings getting the start for the Rays while striking out three and walking two - Peralta was acquired from the Mets on Sunday. Catcher Liam Hicks, acquired from the Marlins on Monday, was also making his Rays debut and went 2-for-5 including hitting his first career grand slam.
The Rays built a 5-1 lead after the top of the third, but the Rockies rallied to build a 7-5 lead. The Rays rallied with two in the ninth and two in the eleventh to come away with the win.
